Sun 29 Jan - ADULT/FAMILY Family Funday at the Ettamogah HotelWe had a good turnout with 8 adults and 9 kids. The kids enjoyed the jumping castle, petting zoo and pony rides. Some even had their faces painted. Overall a nice day out for lunch. Belinda Sat 28 Jan - ADULT Hanna's Lebanese Restaurant by night14 members and two new guests ate their way through a delicious and massive Lebanese banquet at Hanna's at Carlingford on Saturday night. We feasted on a selection of dips, salads, olives and pickles with different flatbreads, then lovely little meaty or cheesy parcels and tiny garlic sausages, three types of kebab, followed by watermelon, nuts and wonderful Lebanese coffee in tiny cups. Too much food for the girls, though the men coped admirably! It was lovely to see a few faces that haven't been around for a while as well as some new ones. We'll definitely host this function again as the food and smiling service was great. Jen and Derek Sun 22 Jan - ADULT/FAMILY Blue Mountains Bush WalkThere were 6 adults and 2 children on the Blue Mountains walk. Despite heavy rain the previous day, we managed to do a walk, have a leisurely lunch, and admire the view from one of the lookouts. Everyone enjoyed the afternoon and the kids loved the ice cream! Linda Sat 21 Jan - ADULT/FAMILY Symphony in the DomainDespite the very wet start to the day, eight culture vultures enjoyed a beautiful balmy night in the Domain. We made the most of the sponsors' giveaways (caps, groundsheets, drink bottles and the Sunday paper), shared our picnic delights and enjoyed a glass or two. Everyone was particularly impressed by the exquisite playing of Emily Sun the solo violinist, and the traditional finale of the 1812 Overture with fireworks was also a step up from previous years. Thanks for coming along everyone! Sue
Sat 21 Jan - ADULT/FAMILY Free Movies in the Park at Strathfield Park - Rio (G)The rain held off for a perfect evening while 4 adults and 7 kids (including 1 non-member family) had a fabulous evening watching ‘Rio’ and picnicking under the stars. Thanks to all who attended. Lou Sat 21 Jan - ADULT Dinner @ The Greengate Hotel14 adults turned up for a great evening at the Greengate Hotel in Killara. Good food, good company. Thanks all that came. Tamara Sat 21 Jan - ADULT/FAMILY Family Dinner at the Etta3 Dads, 5 Mums (2 of which were guests) & 9 kids had a great time at Ettamogah pub, with kids running around on the playground equipment and parents listening to some class live music and enjoying some great food. It was 2 of the kids' birthdays so we had some lovely birthday cake as well. David Sat 14 Jan - ADULT Dinner and Drinks at Hunters Hill HotelWhat a wonderful turnout at Hunters Hill last night. It really was like an SWC reunion, catching up with friends we see frequently, some every now and then and some new faces too. I had to encourage you all to stop chatting and mingling and start ordering dinner! And, HH Hotel were very obliging in trying to keep such a large group of us together. Looking forward to doing this again soon! Deb Sat 07 Jan-14 Jan - ADULT/FAMILY Camping at Lake Tabourie Tourist ParkA nice getaway. There were 5 adults and 11 kids. During the day the kids enjoyed swimming at the beach, kayaking, jumping on the jumping pillow, climbing in the playground, riding bikes and scooters, and feeding rainbow lorikeets and cockatoos at a neighbouring park. Some even ventured out to see a waterfall. One of the nights the kids put on a wonderful talent show. Overall a great week. Belinda Sat 31 Dec - ADULT/FAMILY New Years Eve Family FireworksKurraba Reserve was not at all crowded and 5 adults (including one potential member) and 7 children enjoyed a wonderful view of the fireworks, so much so that most were keen to stay on for the midnight ones. There were several who hadn't seen the fireworks before and from the sound of the oohs, aahs and wows no-one was disappointed. A great way to see in the new year, and all went home weary but happy that they had made the effort. Steve Wed 28 Dec - ADULT Fish and Chips at Balmoral BeachDue to the changeable weather this event became a bistro meal at the Great Northern Hotel, Chatswood, sadly without the sand or potential for skinny dipping. Four gents and four ladies as well as one lady guest attended, enjoying a pleasant meal and great company. It was lovely to catch up on everyone's Christmas activities and those plans for NYE and the year ahead. Thanks to all those who came along. Sue Thu 22 Dec - ADULT/FAMILY Dinner at the Brewhouse Pub MarayongWe had 8 fabulous adults and 8 fabulous kids come for a fantastic dinner at the Brewhouse Marayong. Steaks, schnitzels, burgers to garlic prawns were devoured. All attendees said that I must do this again!! We all had a great night night. Carolyn Sun 18 Dec - ADULT/FAMILY Ten Pin BowlingBowling at Castle Hill AMF was good (well I won so it would be lol).
They have just opened an M9 Laser Skirmish (today!) on what was Lanes 1-6, with gr8 rates for 1 Bowl/1 Skirmish.
The slot car track in the old Party Room area is brand new and looks gd too. It is a real multi-attraction location.
Shame only 3 went, guess everyone is busy with Xmas. Rob Sat 17 Dec - FAMILY Carols in the DomainThanks so much to Colleen for an awesome event she organised yesterday. Even though we were there from 830am the kids all had a great time checking out the Domain, singing & Dancing and also hiding from the heat. Beautiful evening had by all. What a treasured memory we all now have. Carolyn Sat 17 Dec - ADULT Night at The StarWe had a lovely night at The Star. It was a very small group of four, but we had a fabulous time. We were even asked to leave the buffet as it was closing, so time went fast and we were enjoying each other's company. Thanks to those who attended for making it such a lovely night. Deb Sun 11 Dec - FAMILY Kids Christmas PartyWe had 24 adults & 33 children attend the kids christmas party. We all had a great time & the kids had a blast running throught the rain, having faces painted, captain stardust for entertainment & a visit from Santa. Thanks Belinda for your help in organising, to Louise for helping at the door, to Peter for organising music and a big thanks to Santa for coming to visit. Thanks also to those that helped to clean up at the end. Tamara Sat 10 Dec - ADULT/FAMILY Carols By Candlelight at Strathfield ParkIt was a very joyous evening as 4 adults and 10 children (including one non-member family) experienced a variety of groups performing well-known Christmas songs.
