Australia Day picnic at Balmoral Beach

Come & celebrate Australia Day at Balmoral Beach. Balmoral Beach is very kid-friendly with large trees providing shade, calm waters for swimming & a playground. Olivia will arrive about 7am as, once the crowd arrives, it’s difficult to find parking or get a good place on the grass & beach. Please let Olivia know by Tue 24th if you will be attending so she can save enough space for everyone. Food can be purchased at a local kiosk but it would be really nice if we all brought food & drinks to share. Please contact Olivia for more information. We usually leave the beach at about 3pm to freshen up for the Australia Day fireworks at Darling Harbour.

Australia Day Dinner and Fireworks Show at Darling Harbour

Join us for another tradition on Australia Day: Dinner at Bayside Lounge at Darling Harbour. Olivia always books a table outside to secure great views of the fireworks and parade. Hanna's Lebanese Restaurant by night

Join Jenny and Derek at Hanna's. This is a wonderful Lebanese restaurant with a bit of a difference - by day it is car a wash and by night a restaurant. The cost is approx $30.00 and includes some of the following tasty dishes: two types of breads, Lebanese sausages, tabbouleh, skewers chicken, beef and lamb and more. Coffee and sweets are an additional cost. I have been told that the garlic sauce is lethal (that being a good thing when it comes to Lebanese garlic sauce). Please let Jenny or Derek know that you are coming as they will have to book. No belly dancers but Jenny and Derek will be happy for you to audition. Dress is very casual. See you in Carlingford.

Join my daughter Claire and me at Sydney Ice Arena for a Friday night disco on ice, starting at 7.30pm and finishing up at 10.30pm. This event is great for children aged between 9 and about 16 years. All are welcome but if you are in this age group we would especially love to see you. Cost for children under 5 years is $13.00, school students (bring along your student ID card) is $16.00 and if you plan to skate as an adult it will cost you $19.00. Adults, we can get together and have coffee and enjoy each others company as the children skate, giving the tweens and early teens the space they need. Hope to see you in Baulkham Hills.

Family Fun at Greenwich Baths

Join Louise for a sunny afternoon at Greenwich Baths, a great family beach offering a fun and safe environment suitable for everyone from toddlers to lap swimmers. Nestled on the tip of Greenwich Point, Greenwich Baths has spectacular harbour views, including Cockatoo Island, Iron Cove and Balmain to the south and the Sydney CBD skyline to the southeast. Toys are provided for sandcastle building and the baths are surrounded by a shark-proof net and enclosed with child-proof gating. The tiny lapping waves are a perfect introduction for babies and toddlers to the ocean water. If you want a relaxing day by the harbour, there are sun-lounges and picnic tables available. If you’d rather enjoy an active day at the beach, a 30m lap section with lane ropes is available complete with turn boards for a unique workout in our city’s harbour. For refreshments, the café serves milkshakes, gelato, coffee and snacks. Change rooms and shower facilities are provided. Meet in the café area. Casual entry to the baths is $3.50 for adults and $2.50 for concessions, students and kids under 16, children under 5 are free of charge. There is free parking on surrounding residential streets and the Sailing Club has a car park just a short walk away. The Concert will be on Saturday 11th February, 2012. We will be arranging two nights accommodation for Friday 10th and Saturday 11th with check out Sunday 12th February.I have sourced, but not secured, fully contained accommodation for 6-8 people at $230 - $250 per person for two nights. Rates would depend on final numbers and which property we book. Accommodation for premium events book out quickly so I want to secure accommodation as soon as possible. Any suggestions/recommendations in regard to accommodation would be welcome. Reserved seating concert tickets available on-line at your own cost, Silver tickets are up the back at $128.90, Gold $183.90 and are in the third section from the front, and Platinum are $392.90 - at that price I would assume that you would be on stage with Hot Legs himself! All tickets incur a booking fee.I would prefer the cheaper ticket but for an extra $55.00 the Gold seating is a lot closer to the stage and maybe worthwhile. Bike Ride with Kids – Homebush Bay

Take the kids down to Sydney Olympic Park for a bike ride. The last Homebush Bay ride in October was a lot of fun! Suited for any kid, but probably better suited to those off training wheels. We will start off at Blaxland Riverside Park (http://www.sydneyolympicpark.com.au/whats_on/parks/blaxland_riverside_park) which has a great new playground, and then head off for a leisurely ride along the parklands circuit to the playground at Wentworth Common where the kids can use up any excess energy. We'll then ride back to the start to have lunch (BYO Everything for a picnic or buy lunch from the Café). To allow those who don’t have their own bikes, we will meet at the Bike Hire shop at the gateway to Newington Armory (http://www.sydneyolympicpark.com.au/whats_on/things_to_do_and_see_events/bike_hire). For those wishing to hire bikes, please arrange hire before 10:30am so we can head off on time.
